DF Latinos in Action Hear Guest Speaker NASA's Jose Hernandez

Latinos in Action Leadership Conference March 20, 2017

Mr. Hernandez was the first Hispanic astronaut. Mr. Hernandez grew up in a family of migrant farm workers and went on to become NASA space engineer. He was part of the crew of the 2009 space shuttle mission to the International Space Station. He talked about one of the Diamond Fork Values - Perserverance. His application to NASA  was rejected 11 times. Once accepted, he trained for four years for the 14 day mission to space.  

DF College Madness Week!

During the week of March 20th-24th, DF will participate in our own College Madness Week!

In their Team Time, students will open college acceptance letters as we explore universities around the nation, some in the NCAA tournament. Students and teachers fuilled out brackets for the NCAA tournament. Math classes will explore the statistics of the brackets. Teams will compete in college information bowls. College gear from any universities will be worn all week. Teams will recieve points for their team members wearing college gear! Our hope is to create college readiness excitement for all students! 

Fiiz Friday Winner!

We had our first Fiiz Friday drawing today. Fiiz Friday winners are drawn at random from our school list. Student's must have either be on the honor roll OR have perfect attendance. Thanks to our friends at Fiiz for helping us out with this.
