Diamond Fork Parents,

Last Friday was Term 3 Midterm. We have witnessed students’ growth throughout the school year as they tackle the challenges and opportunities of junior high. We have experienced a myriad of new events such as dances, the famously fabulous food drive, intramural sports, cross-country, tennis, basketball, swim meets, Diamondback activities, orchestra, band and choral performances, and service projects. Additionally, we participated in after school clubs, Shakespeare competition, golf, wrestling, geography bee, HOPE squad, creating painted ceiling tiles, class and club field trips and above all, some pretty amazing learning experiences.

Our students have seized the school year’s opportunities placed before them to learn and grow in many different ways. Much of what they do takes courage. Courage comes in many forms. Writer and artist Mary Anne Radmacher states, “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day that says, I will try again tomorrow.” For many, this is a pivotal year whether it is a 7th grader becoming familiar with junior high or a 9th grader making decisions about high school. Our students continually face uncertainty. What they do with the uncertainty involves our core value of courage.

Barnes & Noble Favorite Teacher Contest: “Students write an essay, poem, or thank-you letter (500 words or less, in English on 8.5" x 11" white paper) sharing how a teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire them. Each entry should be submitted with the entry form and a parent or legal guardian must sign the entry form acknowledging that they have read the Official Contest Rules. Participating schools will collect the essays and provide them to their local Barnes & Noble store representative.” Deadline for entries is February 27, 2015. All entries need to be turned in to Mrs. Olsen in the library. Winners are selected, and the local store and community celebrations begin! (BN Website) More information at

Spring Sports: Check for information and tryout times and dates of spring sports at MMHS and SFHS.

National School Breakfast Week: Students celebrate National School Breakfast Week March 2-6 with Nebo School District! Eating school breakfast can add a great boost to your day. But don’t just take our word for it, students who eat school breakfast have better attendance, behavior, test scores and less tardiness as reported by the Food Research and Action Council.

As part of this celebration, there will be many exciting activities and outstanding prizes. Some prizes that will be given away include: bicycles, pulsar watches, jump ropes, educational prizes, sports equipment and gift certificates.  Come join us and celebrate great tasting school breakfasts. See for yourself how school breakfast is tastier and healthier than ever with fresh fruits, whole grains and lean protein.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Thursday, February 26th from 3:30pm to 8:00pm, your child’s teachers will be available to review students’ grades, assignments and ways to succeed in classes. They welcome the opportunity to meet parents and discuss your child’s successes. Please take some time to attend.

7th Grade CTE Trimester Change: The CTE trimester will end on Wednesday, February 25th, the day before Parent Teacher Conferences. Because of that, parents won't need to visit with their child's past CTE teacher, since the grades will be finalized for the trimester. And there will not be a need to visit with the new CTE teacher. This conference conflict happens just once a year. Please make sure your child has all missing assignments to their current CTE teacher before the trimester change.
